Spring is arriving, but so far it is still a little early for most passerine migrants. We have done a few trapping sessions at the feeder in January and February, but the catch has been very limited. This afternoon (March 12th) the nets were open between 14.30-18.30, and there were already a few migrants around: Dunnock 1, Fieldfare 1, European Robin 2, Goldcrest 3.
In total we have ringed 49 birds so far in 2017: Collared Dove 1, Dunnock 1, Common Blackbird 7, Fieldfare 1, Goldcrest 3, House Sparrow 11, Tree Sparrow 6, Chaffinch 2, Greenfinch 3, Mealy Redpoll 1, Yellowhammer 11. Total = 49. Also 99 controls.
