Revtangen BO April 17th

This year the weather is certainly not doing us any favours. April so far has been cold and windy, and the wind has mostly been in the W-N sector. That's why there have been few updates....these conditions simply don't allow trapping at Revtangen BO.

Today there was a little break with light northeasterlies, but still cold and part cloudy. Nets were up from 06-14.30, netmeterhours approx. 2800.

Ringed: Meadow pipit 1, white wagtail 1, robin 3, blackbird 2, chiffchaff 1, chaffinch 2, yellowhammer 4. Total = 14.

Revtangen BO April 4th

Finally some decent weather after a long windy period. Nets were up from 07.15-11.45. Sunny and little wind. Netmeter-hours = 1300.

Ringed: White wagtail 1, robin 2, blackbird 4, great tit 2, crested tit 1, tree sparrow 4, house sparrow 4, chaffinch 1, greenfinch 1, yellowhammer 1. Total = 21, Also 10 controls.

Crested tits are rarely trapped at Revtangen BO. Only one was ringed the last 3 seasons, and this is the only the 8th ever ringed in spring. Most are caught as 1cy in summer.

A few new arrivals seen, a golden plover and a few flyover linnets. A few decent flocks of oystercatchers were moving north over the sea, in addition to a limited number of lesser black-backed gulls and common gulls. Otherwise not much visible migration.
