Revtangen BO April 28th

A cold morning with only pluss 1. Some of the nets were frozen and could not be opened before 8-8.30. Sunny in the morning with a light SE, from 11 turning south and increasing to 9-10 m/s. Clouds came in around lunchtime and the temperature increased to 8 degrees. 

Despite the cold conditions there were som Afrotropical migrants in the catch, with 7 willow warblers and a blackcap. 

Nets open 06.30-14.30, netmeter-hours approx. 2600. Ringed: Meadow pipit 1, robin 3, blackbird 1, blackcap 1, chiffchaff 1, willow warbler 4, crested tit 1, tree sparrow 1, house sparrow 3, chaffinch 3, greenfinch 5,  linnet 2, lesser redpoll 1. Total = 27. Also 6 controls, including 3 willow warblers ringed at Revtangen in 2014 (2) and 2013 (1). 

The first willow warblers are always very welcome. This species is by far the most numerous breeding bird in Norway. Løvsanger.

Observations: Golden plover 200, bee-eater 1 (twice over the BO during the day), goldfinch 1.
