Revtangen BO May 3rd

Light southeasterlies in the morning, turning SSE and increasing around 10 and the nets were closed around 11.30. Nets were open again a couple of hours in the evening. Netmeter hours approx. 2200. 

Ringed: Woodpigeon 1, collared dove 1, wryneck 1, meadow pipit 3, dunnock 1, redstart 1, robin 2, "Greenland" wheatear 2, blackbird 2, blackcap 2, willow warbler 6, chiffchaff 4, pied flycatcher 1, great tit 1, magpie 1, house sparrow 2, greenfinch 16, lesser redpoll 11, mealy redpoll 9, linnet 1, goldfinch 2. Total = 70. Also 25 controls, including i danish greenfinch and a british lesser redpoll. 

The wryneck is a quite rare catch at Revtangen, and a typical spring bird. Vendehals.
Goldfinch, both birds are 2cy. Male top, female lower. Notice the difference in the shape of the red feathering above the eye. Stillits, begge er 2K. Hann øverst, hunn nederst. Legg merke til forskjeller i utbredelsen av det røde, særlig over øyet. 

Ringmerket: Ringdue 1, tyrkerdue 1, vendehals 1, heipiplerke 3, jernspurv 1, rødstjert 1, rødstrupe 2, steinskvett 2 (leucorhoa), svarttrost 2, munk 2, løvsanger 6, gransanger 4, svarthvit fluesnapper 1, kjøttmeis 1, skjære 1, gråspurv 2, grønnfink 16, brunsisik 11, gråsisk 9, tornirisk 1, stillits 2. Total = 70. Også 25 kontroller, bl.a. grønnfink med dansk ring og brunsisik med britisk ring.

        
A new colourringing project is launched in Norway in 2015, at least four ringing groups including Revtangen bird observatory will ring northern wheatears with yellow colourrings with a black 3-letter inscription. Check your wheatears! Steinskvett, ny art som i likhet med linerler og skjærpiplerker får påsatt gule fargeringer.
