Revtangen BO July 29th

NE light breeze turning N and increasing enough to make trapping not very efficient. Cloudy. Most of the nets were open from 07-17, netmeter hours approx. 2600.

Ringed: Collared dove 2, barn swallow 7, white wagtail 2, meadow pipit 2, northern wheatear 1, willow warbler 5, starling 1, house sparrow 2, tree sparrow 1, greenfinch 5, linnet 5, lesser redpoll 1. Total = 34. Also 7 controls.

Ringmerket: Tyrkerdue 2, låvesvale 7, linerle 2, heipiplerke 2, steinskvett 1, løvsanger 5, stær 1, gråspurv 2, pilfink 1, grønnfink 5, tornirisk 5, brunsisik 1. Total = 34.

Our 3 Robinson-traps produced 70 species of Lepidoptaera, the best night of the year so far but still not great. Most noteworthy was the high number of hawk moths, with a record 8 elephant hawk-moths and singles of poplar hawk-moth and bedstraw hawk-moth. Also a new species for Revtangen BO, Athrips pruinosella.

Athrips pruinosella.

Observations: A green sandpiper was in our new pond this morning, unfortunately before the nets were open. Another 3-4 green sandpiper flew over during the morning, otherwise it was rather uneventful.
