Revtangen BO September 12th

ESE 10-14 m/s, part cloudy and a decent temperature. Playback on blackcap and garden warbler through the night and early morning, tree pipit, meadow pipit and barn swallow later on. The wind was a bit too strong for efficient trapping. Continued ringing course with 13 participants throughout the day.

Ringed: Sparrowhawk 3, collared dove 1, barn swallow 2, tree pipit 5, meadow pipit 1, winter wren 2, european robin 1, redwing 2, song thrush 1, blackcap 2, willow warbler 2, spotted flycatcher 2, house sparrow 2, linnet 1, yellowhammer 1.Total = 28.

Ringmerket: Spurvehauk 3, tyrkerdue 1, låvesvale 2, trepiplerke 5, heipiplerke 1, gjerdesmett 2, rødstrupe 1, rødvingetrost 2, måltrost 1, munk 2, løvsanger 2, gråfluesnapper 2, gråspurv 2, tornirisk 1, gulspurv 1. Total = 28.

Observations: Sparrowhawk 20+, kestrel 5, marsh harrier 1 1cy, peregrine 1. When the sun was out at least 3 different species of dragonflies were on the wing in the garden, Aeshnea juncea, Sympetrum danae and Sympetrum vulgae. The latter was a first for Revtangen BO, and the first in Rogaland in recent historical times (two old undated museumspcimens from Rogaland exists).

Sympetrum vulgatum, at two different places in the garden and at different times, but with different light it is not easy to tell if both pictures show the same or two different individuals. Sørlig høstlibelle.

Also a very interesting moth trapped today: Dotted Rustic, the first record at Revtangen BO. Sandmarkfly.
