Revtangen BO August 5th

Winds from the south, 7-10 m/s. Too much for efficient trapping, since our mist-nats are poorly protected from this wind direction. Most nets were up from 07.30-15.l30, but only 13 birds ringed: Willow warbler 6, coal tit 1, house sparrow 1, tree sparrow 1, linnet 4.

Ringmerket: Løvsanger 6, svartmeis 1, gråspurv 1, pilfink 1, tornirisk 4.

Observations:
Bird Observatory: Common buzzard 1, whimbrel 1, wood sandpiper 1, grasshopper warbler 1 singing in the evening to the east.
Revtangen: Around 350 waders, including 250 dunlin, 25 sanderling, 15 little stint (most adults), 10 bar-tailed godwit (1 colourringed read and reported), 2 adult grey plovers and a few turnstones and red knots. Juvenile ruff are starting to move through, with around 50 seen in the fields and a few (including an adult female) also feeding at Revtangen.

The small highlight was this 1 cy coal tit, the first in 2015. Svartmeis, 1K.

Two Robinson-traps produced 48 moth species, including a first for Revtangen BO: This Golden Plusia (Polychrysia moneta). Tyrihjelmfly.
